Itinerary

Day 1 – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive southwest toward Tarangire National Park. The drive offers views of rural Tanzanian villages, open plains, and Maasai lands before arriving at the park gate.

Tarangire is famous for its giant baobab trees, seasonal swamps, and the life-giving Tarangire River, which attracts large concentrations of wildlife. Enjoy a full-day game drive through different parts of the park, where you may encounter large herds of elephants, giraffes browsing the acacia trees, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, warthogs, and a variety of antelope species. Predators such as lions and leopards are also sometimes seen, especially near riverine areas.

A picnic lunch will be served inside the park before continuing with afternoon game viewing. As the sun begins to lower, exit the park and head to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 – Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, begin the scenic drive toward Serengeti National Park. The route passes through the beautiful highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering spectacular views over volcanic landscapes and open grasslands.

As you enter the Serengeti, the landscape opens into endless plains stretching to the horizon. Enjoy a game drive en route to your camp, where wildlife often appears soon after entering the park. You may spot lions resting under acacia trees, cheetahs scanning the plains, elephants moving in family groups, and large herds of zebras and wildebeest grazing across the savannah.

After a picnic lunch, continue with afternoon game viewing as you make your way deeper into the park. Arrive at your lodge or camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight inside the Serengeti.

Day 3 – Serengeti National Park

Today is dedicated to a full day of exploration in Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most famous wildlife sanctuaries.

Set out early in the morning when animals are most active. The cool morning hours provide excellent opportunities to see predators returning from the hunt or large cats resting after the night’s activity. Throughout the day, your guide will explore different areas of the park depending on recent wildlife movements.

Depending on the season, you may witness part of the Great Migration, with vast numbers of wildebeest and zebras moving across the plains. You may also see giraffes, hyenas, jackals, topis, hartebeests, and many species of birds.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at a scenic spot inside the park before continuing with afternoon game drives. Return to your camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Serengeti National Park as you begin your journey toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

On arrival, descend 600 meters into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, often described as one of Africa’s natural wonders. The crater floor offers one of the highest wildlife densities on the continent. During your game drive, you may spot black rhinos, lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, and hippos around the crater’s wetlands and open grasslands.

A picnic lunch is usually enjoyed near the hippo pool before continuing your game drive across the crater floor. Later in the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a compact but remarkably diverse park nestled beneath the dramatic cliffs of the Great Rift Valley.

The park’s habitats range from lush groundwater forest to open grasslands and the alkaline shores of Lake Manyara. Enjoy a morning and early afternoon game drive, where you may see troops of baboons, elephants moving through the forest, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and a rich variety of birdlife including flamingos when water levels are favorable. If luck is on your side, you may also spot the park’s famous tree-climbing lions.

After a picnic lunch, enjoy your final game viewing before beginning the return drive to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening, marking the end of your safari with Bavon Tours and Safaris.
